Wowza! Retiring commissioner Pat Kusek has a doozy of an op-ed in the local paper today.
TL;DR — Having been denied a seat on a new $1.25 billion community trust she helped structure, she now has the sads.
“It’s all political”, claims the politician.
No ma’am. It’s called conflict of interest. And the citizens of the Cape Fear won’t allow it. It’s all coming out.
The hospital belongs to the community, and if a sale goes through, the proceeds should belong to the community as well. Not to a self-appointed group of backroom dealers and crony elites who would be unaccountable to the public

UNFORTUNATELY, my Windows 10 computer that seems corrupted in ways that DON'T disappear when I force power off and let Windows rebuild itself, today is NOT letting me access any StarNewsOnline articles that I didn't first access BEFORE TODAY. I just pulled up a couple with no difficulty that I looked at yesterday.
I paid for a YEAR of access to everything they post online six weeks ago, and calling their Customer Service for Digital, the recording says they are closed, call back tomorrow -- but surely they mean Monday, since tomorrow is SUNDAY -- unless their staff has all converted to ORTHODOX JUDAISM!!!
So I can't read this article, and no other local Press has yet reported it -- probably because not only is it a weekend, but the only thing out there is Pat Kusek's Op-Ed -- and you can BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR that Pat Kusek has gone into HIDING!!!
