It was ONLY in the writing of it that I realized that there HAD TO BE A REASON that David Zucchino gave SCANT MENTION to William Rand Kenan, Sr.'s MAJOR ROLE in the 1898 Wilmington Insurrection. ANY PERSON who's done historical research KNOWS Kenan was TOTALLY INVOLVED, and when I finally met Philip Gerard, at his 25th Anniversary UPDATED EDITION PARTY and READING held in the Hannah Block Community Center, Philip recognized ME as having FAR MORE STORIES about this and OTHER KENAN CORRUPTIONS, than even HE HAS!!!
Readers will please notice, that RANDALL KENAN (not a blood relative), who wrote the blurb at top -- and a new introduction -- died almost a year ago, friended me in 2009, and told me how EVERYONE OF THE ADMINISTRATION of the Sewanee Writers Conference -- where he taught for at least twelve years -- was TONE DEAF to literature.

We are devastated by the loss of Randall Kenan, one of the most beloved members of our community. Randall was a beautiful soul, a brilliant writer, a generous teacher, and a kind man. We were blessed to have him in our midst, and he will be profoundly missed. The Professional and Customer Reviews have been such RAVES, that I know he did cover the basics of the Coup well enough -- although my OTHER CRITICISM of BOTH David Zucchino's and Philip Gerard's books are that they must BOTH BE GOD-HATING CHRISTIANS -- because NEITHER emphasized that the Coup was ENTIRELY LED AND SUPPORTED by EVERY WHITE CHRISTIAN CHURCH in Wilmington -- or no one has pointed out a single one that DID NOT PARTICIPATE!!!

Kenan III and his step-mother, Betty (Price) Kenan and others of their CLOSE RELATIVES, signed the Contract with Mr. Putin for Kenan Companies to make HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS developing Russia's vast Oil Reserves -- but Obama's Sanctions kept it from activating.
