My tropical gardenia in the New Hanging Garden of Babylon, is attacked nightly by giant cockroaches (locally known as "water-bugs"), who climb the 1.5 stories of stairs to eat the tips of the flower buds -- and they open stunted with brown edges and soon turn "Deep Nicotine-Stain Off-Yellow".
But they SMELL fine, LOL!!!

The cruelest letter from a public official to a constituent I have ever read....from Senator Jesse Helms (NC) to his friend and constituent Patsy Clarke, the mother of son Mark, who died of AIDS at age 31. This vile letter from Helms radicalized Clarke for the rest of her life. 1. My main email, with AOL, has ALWAYS been problematic -- it NEVER remembers email addresses of Liberal or Progressive publications or POWERFUL people (but does remember non-powerful Liberal people's addresses), is now only allowing SOME emails through -- often after long delays.
It APPEARS this is due to HACKERS, not AOL, that would shut me down completely if that were true. I'm in a "wait and see" attitude about it, and "Testosteroni" has run experiments with me to figure this out. My DOCTORS' emails to me NEVER reach me via Epic Systems' "My Chart" and AOL!!!
2. Yesterday, I received the bill by snail mail from New Hanover Regional Medical Center for my recent Nuclear Stress Test:
Charge: $2,548.92
Insurance (Medicare): $308.62 credit
Adjustments (unexplained): $2,161.57 credit
Balance due: $78.73
THEN, if I pay within a month, I get an ADDITIONAL credit of 25%, or $19.68 -- so a BOTTOM NET BILL of $59.05!!!
So I called them to ask what that GIANT "Adjustment" was, and the clerk said it is the discount they are contracted with my insurance company to give all their insured people.
I asked if the uninsured then had to pay the full $2,548.92, and she said, "No, they get the 'self-pay' discount of 50%."
I asked her WHO pays the full amount, and she said NO ONE that she knows of -- and that NONE of them in her job UNDERSTAND the billing -- or how Epic Systems' "My Chart" works!!!
On MY CHART, it has a DIFFERENT billing of this to me -- LOL!!!
Readers all know that my nephew Connor Michael Kenan made TONS of money selling Epic Systems to doctors and hospitals, and is now an independent consultant on Epic Systems, and that my high school girlfriend, "Christine Marlowe Busch", was a Prosecutor in S.E. Pennsylvania, then went back to school and became a Physician. After years of private practice, left that to work as a Specialist in charge of INSTALLING Epic Systems on major Hospital Systems.
"Christine" says that Epic Systems doesn't really work right and has HELPED medicine in the USA become VERY impersonal.
May I say that DESPITE all of that, the doctors I am dealing with are doing a GREAT JOB despite the FLAWED SYSTEM!!!

Hackers frequently ELECTRONICALLY DISCONNECT my printer from my computer, making it impossible to print things, but I have always been able to RE-connect, although it wastes a LOT of time. I'm confident that I will get a paper copy in Registered US Mail to Jamie, sometime today.
