A highly underrated dynamic shaping a lot of American politics right now is the extent to which Republican voters aren't really consuming much news media whatsoever besides one: Fox News.

Most Republican voters (57%) say they regularly get their information about the world from Fox News - and that's it. The next-closest is ABC News, at only 27%. Most other sources - even loudly right-wing outlets like Breitbart - are in the single digits.

This total dominance gives Fox News a singular ability to shape conservative opinion and set conservative audiences' agendas. To that audience, which largely is totally oblivious to other sources, what Fox News says is "what's happening" - adding to their bafflement when others don't agree.

And among Democratic voters? Their news sources are far more diverse and competitive.

Costco’s Bold Stance in a Shifting Political Climate

Over the past year, Costco has distinguished itself by taking public positions that diverge from the policies of President Donald Trump’s administration. While most large corporations have avoided controversy or adjusted their policies to align with the administration, Costco has maintained its own course, attracting attention for its willingness to stand apart.

Despite a trend among major companies to scale back diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, Costco has remained committed to these values. This decision has resonated with progressive shoppers, yet the company has not experienced backlash from conservative customers. Costco also took the unusual step of suing the government over tariff refunds, risking potential retaliation from officials.

So far, Costco’s strong brand loyalty among both customers and employees has shielded it from negative consequences.
