I got TIRED of taking time to get all the details about people who don't give a SHIT about me!!! This is not true about my sisters: Jane Ann Kenan and Julie Ruth (Kenan) Duffy.
To begin with, Mike asked me to write something for him to read at Mom's funeral -- like I had done for my father's funeral in 2014 when I was still in Political Exile in Puerto Vallarta so that Republicans (and Democrats), but especially my FAMILY and EMPLOYER could not murder me. Colin Powell's Chief Protocol Officer was my close friend in 2010 and she warned me that they ALL planned to kill me and she helped me leave the country.
Only my mother confessed to that sin -- as well as having four times beginning in 1974 -- tried to have me killed and/or stripped me of all of my wealth and my careers. That, and the fact that my feet that have almost no feeling -- and until very recently had Diabetes Ulcers that were not healing (I was concerned because Mom knew that double strength Lithium Carbonate causes Chemically-Induced Diabetes -- which Mom worked in tandem with a now-closed Veterans Hospital in Lower Mississippi to kill her brother Robert J. Meyer, DDS -- because he had allowed his daughter to marry a Jew -- and who also admitted to actually being GAY -- although he had fathered the first three of his four children).
Readers will recall that my father, William Scott Kenan (1918 - 2014), was BISEXUAL, his nickname was "Middle Leg" at New Hanover High because of its size and his willingness to share it with all. He fathered the first child of his eight-years-older brother Rufus "Harlee" Kenan with Uncle Harlee's fiancée Virginia Mintz!!! Graham Harlee Kenan is my still-living half-brother -- not my cousin, as we were told!!!
Nothing like GOOD CHRISTIAN FAMILIES, no???
The BEST NEWS is that in recent months, Mom and I became BEST FRIENDS and were honest and forgiving of each other of our sins and even SERIOUS CRIMES against each other. Mom did not want me driving to Raleigh because of my foot -- although I did it recently, but it wore me out to pay constant attention so I didn't mix up the gas and the brake pedals!!!
So, Mike called me this evening, and I heard they had a GREAT TURNOUT for the funeral that went very well. I had sent him something to read for me (but knew he might not). Mike wouldn't say beforehand which it would be, so I asked -- and he had NOT read it to the gathering.
I asked him if he had shared it with ANYONE -- thinking he would have let his wife and our two siblings read it -- but HE HAD NOT!!!
We remained cordial throughout, and at the end, Mike said he loved me -- and I said, "Yeah -- you love me so much you did not let me express myself!!! Goodbye."

Statement to be read at Mom’s (Ruth Anne Kenan’s), Funeral:
Good afternoon!
First, I want to thank everyone who came to honor my mother’s life. I would be with you, but for complicated reasons, I cannot. Many of you know that for much of my life, Mom and I were at odds with each other – even completely estranged while I was in Mexico for nearly four years.
The GOOD NEWS is that over the last few years, Mom and I came to understand each other – and we spoke at least every other day of the last two years of her life. We confronted each other with how we had hurt each other, apologized for the psychological/spiritual and other crimes we had committed against each other, and came to understand our relationship from a higher perspective. Most helpful in that, was Mom finally realized the godliness of Pope Francis’s and now Pope Leo’s position against the Politics of Fear and Greed of our current President and his supporters, and the Popes’ strong support of Democracy, irrespective of Political Party.
In her last, lucid days, Mom told me she liked to talk with me because I told her the news. Apparently, no one else had the courage to tell her that her strong support of the Christian Nationalism of today’s Republican Party was in conflict with so much of Catholic interpretation of Jesus’s Teachings – and to explain WHY that was.
I know they say that to get along with others, “You shouldn’t discuss Politics or Religion,” but I have long believed that is an insult to ourselves and others. We must all learn that God created a diverse world – and we are all His children, made in His image. All of us matter, and we need to find our Common Ground. We might not be able to love everyone, but we must respect everyone – people change in their own time, and today’s Big Sinner might become tomorrow’s Big Saint – just ask Saul/St. Paul the Apostle!
I left the Catholic Church in late high school, but have studied the Bible and Comparative Religions, eventually aligning with Science of Mind, which respects all spiritual traditions, and encourages all in their own Spiritual Development. In junior high, I wanted to become a Jesuit Priest, so I have always been grateful that when my parents moved to Raleigh at the end of the Twentieth Century, they settled in a JESUIT-led congregation!
I see Jesus as a Prophet – like Abraham, Muhammed, the Buddha, etc. – all addressed their audience according to the customs of their tribes and times. Today, we are all so interconnected with other cultures, that keeping old mindsets, we clash with each other. Today’s world demands that we all open our minds. And you can’t go wrong living as Jesus taught us to live.
In closing, I hope that to honor my late Mother, each and everyone here will examine their lives and reach out to someone they have had philosophic or spiritual disagreements with, and then -- first centering in the Love of God -- reach out to them for greater understanding.

I've given this a lot of consideration and given that you, Jane, and Julie will all be telling great stories of good things that Mom did, that there's little I could add to that and you should all speak first.
I've heard that very recently you went on to our sisters very angry at Mom for what she did to you, and Mom herself complained to me several times the last half year that you rarely called her -- that being why I strongly encouraged you to do so as she was nearing the end more quickly -- and you did that. I hope you made your peace with Mom. I told her if she ever felt lonely or afraid on "the other side", that she could haunt me, and I would cheer her up.
As you should know, Tennesee Williams's ghost visited me in Atlanta -- before I knew he had died, and I had a whole string of visions in late 2009 that included Jackie Kennedy, mostly, but JFK, all the dead Presidents going back to Washington, and then JFK, Jr.:

In this case, I’ve got some hunches but, if I’m being honest, I think the Wilmington city council and mayor’s race could be really surprising.
We’ll know soon enough – although not, perhaps, right away. A race this close and this hotly contested is pretty likely to generate at least one recount. We might be holding our breath until the votes are finalized during the canvass on November 14."
Well, I can't vote for Democrat Jonathan Barfield, Jr. for Mayor -- who while on New Hanover County Commission voted with the REPUBLICANS to steal the Hospital System for the Presbyterian Church, etc.!!!
And I can't vote for Republican Billy Craig. When I heard him debate the other two at the NAACP-sponsored event -- he was mostly GRUMPY and had NOT PREPARED ANY SPECIFIC ANSWERS!!!
But "BILL" SAFFO was quick to intelligently answer any and all questions -- plus he's been FLIRTING WITH ME , recenty -- despite THIS FIASCO, for which I've forgiven him (like I forgave my Mother):
For the City Council positions, I agree with local Dem Chair Jill Hopman, and you can google to see who those three of four Democrats are!!!
