Jake Tapper went from CNN's buttoned-up, facts-first anchor to co-authoring a political tell-all that reads like a late-stage confessional from a guy trying to absolve himself after the house burned down. And the fire? He was the guy guarding the smoke alarms.
He spent years downplaying or ignoring concerns about Biden’s mental decline. Now, with Trump back in office and Biden off the stage, Tapper drops a bombshell book revealing that—surprise!—Biden’s inner circle was hiding everything. Wheelchair plans. Memory lapses. Not recognizing George Clooney. You name it. And suddenly Tapper's like, “Hey, I should’ve asked more questions. My bad.”
Meghan McCain’s comparison to O.J. Simpson’s If I Did It isn’t subtle. She basically called Tapper a media accessory to deception—someone who helped cover up a crisis and now wants credit for exposing it after it stopped being risky.
So now he’s hired a crisis PR firm. Because of course he has. And everyone from Glenn Greenwald to random Substackers is pointing out the obvious: this is legacy repair, not journalism.
